Build #1 Schedule - located at 641 South Oak Street in Ottawa

This is an ideal schedule, planned for 16 weekends. Dates will change due to weather or material, contractor and volunteer availability. Please be flexible!

Items that are finished are shown in this color.

Pre-volunteer weeks 1-3+ (April 19-May 15)

Excavate driveway and install base stone

Dig, form and pour footers

Excavate crawlspace and garage, backfill with stone

Form and pour crawlspace and garage floors (all completed)

Week 4 - May 22--First Day for General Volunteers

Install "I" joist and OSB sub-floor (finished May 22)

May 26-Extra workday with double shifts (8 am to 4 pm & 4 pm to 8 pm)

Frame and set exterior walls (house and garage) (Interior walls finished also)

NOTE: No crews were scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend (May 29)

Week 5 - June 5

Frame and set exterior walls (house and garage) (finished May 26)

Apply exterior sheeting, level and brace walls (finished June 2 & 3)

Week 6 - June 12

Set roof trusses (finished June 3)

Sheet and shingle roof (roof sheeting finished June 5, singles in process as of June 7)

Caulk! Caulk! Caulk! (Stage 1 caulking is done on June 12...more later)

Build front deck with steps and railings (August 11-13)

Week 7 - June 19

Sheet and shingle roof (finished June 11)

Install exterior blue board and house wrap (finished June 19)

Install windows (moved to July 6 with Sheriff Beutler and sheriff's office crew)

Exterior doors (done!) and garage door (done!)

Build and set interior walls (finished May 26)

Week 8 - (Week ending June 26)

Complete electrical rough-in (in process as of June 16)

Insulate interior (finished June 26)

Begin siding installation below windows (started June 26)

Begin soffit installation (started June 26, finished July 21)

Volunteers - pour driveway, sidewalks, and rear patio (August 11-13)

No work was scheduled for July 3 (Holiday Weekend)

Week 9 - (Week ending July 10)

Professional contractor only on weekdays

Rough-in plumbing, set shower and tub

Install HVAC (Duct work in process as of June 8)

July 7 - Install windows (thanks to Sheriff Beutler and his volunteers)

Volunteers - Inspection #1....caulk, caulk, caulk!

Finish driveway, sidewalks, and rear patio (August 11-13)

Week 10 - July 17

Insulate walls (exterior) finished June 19.

Install ceiling drywall (started July 17)

Finish siding installation (finished July 24)

Week 11 - July 24

Finish ceiling drywall installation (finished July 28)

Begin drywall installation on vertical walls

Week 12 - ~~July 31~~ August 11-16 (Professional contractor - finish drywall)

Week 13 - August 14

No general volunteers scheduled - enjoy the day!

Week 14 - Week of August 21

Prime & paint ceilings and walls (done)

Insulate ceiling (done!)

Install cabinets in kitchen and bathrooms

Install counter tops

Finish electrical (outlets, switches, and lighting-done)

Week 15+ - Week of August 28, following weekdays

Finish plumbing (waiting for toilet shipment)

Install interior doors with hardware (done)

Install finish trim (done)

No crews will be scheduled on Labor Day weekend.

Week 16 - September 11

Cleaning, installation of medicine cabinets, closet shelving & rods, power wash siding, etc.

Installation of carpeting and landscaping (to be done at very end)

Punch Out

TURN OVER KEYS TO BOARD, THEN HOMEOWNER

A dedication will take place October 4 at 4 pm in conjunction with World Habitat for Humanity Day as established by the United Nations.

Also, floor coverings may be installed after the dedication has taken place.
